Russia’s Rostelecom starts blocking huge torrent tracker Rutracker
MOSCOW, Jan 25 (PRIME) -- Russian state-controlled telecom giant Rostelecom has started blocking Rutracker, the country’s biggest torrent tracker, in order to comply with a court’s decision, the operator’s press secretary Andrei Polyakov said Monday.
“We received the information from the single register of forbidden information and started blocking (the resource),” Polyakov said.
The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media received the corresponding decision to eternally block the resource from the Moscow City Court, which found out that Rutracker had distributed pirated content and failed to respect author’s rights.
